What type of media conglomerate would distribute your media piece?

Final Cut Pro

After planning was finished and we had our first set of shots from outside the haunted house, we begun editing. We used the Apple software ‘Final Cut Pro'.

Final cut pro has allowed us to stitch the shots together to give the appearance of complete continuity and match on action which is cutting from one shot to another view that matches the first shot's action.

We decided to apply a black and white filter to make it look like old footage and to make the film look like it was taken at night. We also applied effects to some shots with the spectre in to give the appearance of a supernatural force.

Here is the footage with 'bad TV' and 'Prism' effects added. We used this to flash images while giving a supernatural look.

We also used these effects when the spectre flashes up in the background, after Joe and Tyler enter the house.

These effects have added to the feel of the film. Combined with the sudden digetic supernatural sounds that we managed to add straight from the library of 'Final Cut Pro' sounds. I feel we have managed to create a genuinley scary piece.

Editing

We have nearly finished the editing of our 2 minute film. We have stitched the shots together well to give good continuity and match on action. All we need to do now  is edit in some eerie non digetic sound to help create tension

Non Digetic Music

I have chosen a song to acompany our film. I found it on a website with free downloads to royalty free music. I feel it will work well with our film as it is intense and will help build the tension. This is a convention of horror/thriller films. A good example of non digetic sound being utilised well is this classic scene in 'JAWS' where the music begins out mysterious but gains intensity as the POV (point of view) shot of the shark gets closer to Alex's legs.

Update on film 1

Filming has nearly been completed. We only need a few shots of Tyler + Joe breaking in to the building and finding the phone. Then we can complete the rest of the editing.

Filming has finished!. All we need to do now is edit the rest of our film together. We should have it finished by Monday the 27th.
