Preliminary Task Evaluation

I think that making our preliminary task was an important step in developing our skills in shooting and editing film.


Positives:
+ Our piece used a variety of camera shots
+ The non diegetic sound was well paired with the footage to create tension
+ The setting was ideal


Negatives:
- The shots were often jumpy and continuity didn't flow smoothly at times
- The dialogue was difficult to hear at times
- There were some unnecessary shots
- The camera was shaky in some shots


Targets:

• Use a tripod to get steady shots
• Improve editing to give better flowing continuity
• Edit the dialogue to be louder or use a boom microphone
•  Improve on choosing appropriate shots

This is the footage we edited for the preliminary tack which was to film a short conversation.

Filming Continued

Today we continued filming in the top of outwood house. We had to postpone filming at the end of last half term, as all of the cameras were being used

Editing Software

For this film intro we will be using the editing software 'Final Cut Pro' for the imac. We have practiced using this software before when editing our preliminary task.

12 Years a Slave

Today we continued watching 12 years a slave. This 2013 period drama film, follows the African-American character Solomon Northup who was kidnapped in Washington D.C in 1841 and sold into slavery.

'12 Years a Slave earned three Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Drama. The film also won the BAFTA Award for Best Film, while Ejiofor received the Best Actor award.' - Wikipedia Article

Costume:


Our two main characters: Tyler and Joe, will be wearing suspicious clothing. Such as covering of the face.
